Consider the Consequences Before You Act
Tracy defines importance by consequence: a task is important in proportion to the potential impact of doing it or failing to do it. Long-term thinking improves short-term decision-making.
Successful people are willing to delay gratification and sacrifice in the short term so they can enjoy far greater rewards later. Unsuccessful people seek immediate comfort and pleasure and pay for it with mediocre results.
Before choosing a task, project it forward: what happens in a week, a month, a year if I do this, or if I don't? Let that future consequence, not present convenience, decide what you work on now.
